Recreational marijuana sales at dispensaries in Naperville likely have plateaued in the city and the state, according to the mayor. In 2022, Illinois logged recreational cannabis sales of $1.55 billion, an increase of 12% over 2021′s $1.38 billion. Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico said the jump in sales statewide probably had more to do with the new dispensaries opening in the state than an escalation in sales at existing businesses. The state has 113 adult-use dispensaries, including the first three social equity dispensaries that opened their doors in 2022.
